Banks used pinstriped suits to identify staff in the 1800s. It’s funny how a uniform can evolve into mainstream fashion. Dungarees, anything denim actually, and the flannel shirt; they all managed to cross over seamlessly. Dungarees didn’t quite cut it when it came to that Castorama cycling kit, though, did it?

In a break from making aerodynamic outfits for Movistar, Endura has produced something that everyone can identify with, the aptly named, Pinstripe kit. It’s Endura, so the jersey isn’t without technical elements altogether. That’d be like Apple releasing an analogue phone in a bid to make us all talk to each other again.

The jersey is made from a super fast sweat wicking fabric and has sleeves with silicone grippers. Sharp tan lines and saves a watt or two. The rear of the jersey has three open pockets and a mesh one on the side to carry used gel wrappers.

The pre-curved, race fit shorts feature a raw edge hem that matches the pinstripes on the jersey. Each leg has silicone gripper to hold in place, while inside the shorts, Endura has used one of its E600 series computer cut pads. The pad, which houses gel inserts, stretches to improve rider comfort. All the better for long days in the saddle.

The Castorama kit, which was modeled on the staff uniform from the DIY store, was one of the oddest designs we’ve seen in cycling. It’s a good job Endura opted for a more wearable pinstripe, which won’t make the wearer look like a complete banker.
