Which of us has read Tim Krabbé’s The Rider and not found the famous opening lines devastatingly relatable? “Hot and overcast. I take my gear out of the car and put my bike together. Tourists and locals are watching from sidewalk cafés. Non-racers. The emptiness of those lives shocks me.”

Cycling has the power to make everything else in the world seem empty while we’re doing it. It is the purest form of escapism. That’s why we love it. Scott’s new ULTD. collection is designed simply for the love of riding, so that you can focus on it to the exclusion of everything else. So that you can enjoy ultimate comfort on the bike without the world getting in the way. Whether you’re smashing an early-morning training loop before work or heading out for an easy Sunday coffee ride with friends, the ULTD. collection is made with high-performance materials with a quality and style that allows you to express yourself the way you want to.

The Scott ULTD. Aero Jersey comes in men’s and women’s versions and combines technology and fashion in a cool, minimalist design. Made with Italian woven stretch Kinetech fabrics, the Aero Jersey has an aero-optimised road fit with a pre-shaped sleeve construction. There are the classic rear pockets – three for the men’s jersey and two for the women’s – a full-length zip and round neck with a low collar for heat management as well as aerodynamic performance. The subtle colourways are inspired by the natural landscapes on your journey – Wood Red, Fir Green and Black.

For the height of summer there’s the Scott ULTD. SL Jersey that’s made from a super-light open mesh fabric. With a pre-shaped road-specific fit, if you’re planning a big day in the high mountains, this is the one to pull on. With a 70 per cent recycled polyamide content, it’s a Scott Re-source product, underlining Scott’s commitment to mitigating the impacts of its products and business practices. Choose from three striking fade colourways for women and two for men.

When watt-saving or keeping cool on climbs aren’t your priority, there are the Scott ULTD. long-sleeve and short-sleeve training jerseys. Made from Scott Re-source sustainable fabrics with premium features such as a YKK Vislon full-length semi-autolock front zipper and a water-repellent rear pocket for extra protection in variable weather conditions, these beautifully made garments will motivate you to get out of bed and onto the road. With Vivid Red and Astro Purple among the available colourways, you’ll stand out in the early-morning traffic.

The Scott ULTD. Aero ++++ Bib Shorts are perfect for pairing with the aero jersey and, like the jersey, also come in men and women’s versions. Fitted to match your optimal position on the bike without restricting movement, the engineered woven stretch fabric supplies progressive compression for each section of the leg, improving blood circulation and reducing lactic acid production, helping your muscles perform better for longer and with less soreness post ride. DUROxpand is a four-way stretch fabric that’s deployed here for both freedom of movement and compression.

The chamois is Scott’s ++++ Ultra seat pad, which is designed for ultracycling and long-distance riding. It’s constructed using two different foam densities with a low-profile edge to avoid friction and enhance comfort. It’s made with bio-sourced foam with an integrated graphene fabric on the top that’s cooling and quick drying.

The ULTD. ++++ Bib Shorts, which have a mesh insert at the rear of the bib rather than the crossed elastic straps of the Aero Bib Shorts and a higher waistband, feature the same seat pad. Made from lightweight and quick-drying fabrics, these are perfect for training and all-day rides.

Each garment in the ULTD. collection is designed for a slightly different cycling style but all are designed for one reason: the love of riding.
